We are excited to introduce Voicemail Direct, a new feature that allows you to send calls directly to a specific extension’s voicemail.

## Introduction

We are excited to introduce **Voicemail Direct**, a new feature that allows you to send calls directly to a specific extension’s voicemail. This is particularly useful when you know the person is unavailable or busy, and you want the caller to leave a message without ringing their phone.

## How It Works

Voicemail Direct uses special feature codes to route calls straight to an extension’s voicemail. There are two types of voicemail greetings you can send callers to:

- **Unavailable Greeting**: Played when the user is not available.

- **Busy Greeting**: Played when the user is on another call.

##### Feature Codes

**Send to Unavailable Greeting**: Dial `*81{extension}` or `*81{account-number}`

- **Send to Busy Greeting**: Dial `*82{extension}` or `*82{account-number}`

Replace `{extension}` or `{account-number}` with the actual extension number you wish to reach.

## How to Use Voicemail Direct

##### Sending a Call to the Unavailable Voicemail Greeting

To send a call directly to an extension’s unavailable voicemail greeting:

1. **Blind Transfer** the call to `*81{extension}`.

**Example**:

- If you want to send a caller directly to extension **201**‘s unavailable voicemail:

Blind transfer the call to `*81201`.

##### Sending a Call to the Busy Voicemail Greeting

To send a call directly to an extension’s busy voicemail greeting:

1. **Blind Transfer** the call to `*82{extension}`.

**Example**:

- If you want to send a caller directly to extension **202**‘s busy voicemail:

Blind transfer the call to `*82202`.

## Use Cases

- **Receptionists** can send calls directly to an employee’s voicemail if they are in a meeting or out of the office.

- **Automated Systems** can route calls to voicemail during non-business hours without ringing the extension.

- **Call Forwarding** can be setup to divert calls directly, using the star-code

## Important Notes

- Always use a **blind transfer** (also known as an unattended transfer) when using Voicemail Direct.

- Ensure that the extension number is valid and that the destination voicemail box is set up.
